» Direct answer
A US mid-market SDR typically costs about 2× base salary fully loaded. On a $62,000 base, that is $126,600 a year before equity, once variable comp, payroll tax, benefits, equipment, recruiting, and ramp are counted. Enter your own numbers below.

Formula per seat: base + variable + payroll tax + benefits + equipment + (recruiting per hire ÷ tenure in years) + (ramp per hire ÷ tenure in years) + equity, if included.
What the number means
The fully loaded figure is what one seat costs whether or not it produces. Divide it by productive days, not calendar days, and the cost of each working day shows up. Then compare it with what the same coverage costs when there is no ramp, no turnover, and no PTO drag.

- What is the fully loaded cost of an SDR?
- The fully loaded cost of an SDR is everything a company spends to keep one sales development rep in the seat for a year: base salary, variable comp, payroll tax, benefits, equipment, and the recruiting and ramp cost of each hire spread over tenure. In MatrixLabX's cost model it is $126,600 on a $62,000 base.
- Why is a fully loaded SDR about 2× base salary?
- Base salary is only part of the cost. In MatrixLabX's SDR cost model, variable comp, employer payroll tax, benefits, equipment, and the amortized cost of recruiting and ramping each hire add roughly as much again, so the fully loaded figure lands at about 2.04 times base before equity.
- How does the calculator count recruiting and ramp?
- Recruiting and ramp are one-time costs per hire, so the MatrixLabX calculator spreads them over average tenure. With $13,300 of recruiting, $16,100 of ramp, and a 21-month tenure, that adds $7,600 and $9,200 a year to each seat. Shorter tenure raises both.
- Where do the default numbers come from?
- The defaults are the benchmark seat in MatrixLabX's published fully loaded SDR cost model: a $62,000 base, $23,000 variable comp at plan, payroll tax, benefits, equipment, recruiting, ramp, a 21-month tenure, and 30 days of PTO, holidays, and sick time. Replace any of them with your own.
- How does this compare with managed revenue operations?
- MatrixLabX Managed Revenue Operations publishes flat prices: Pipeline Crew is $107,988 a year for one full motion lane, and Revenue Crew is $288,000 a year for all four PrescientIQ workers. The calculator shows both beside your team's fully loaded cost, so you can compare capacity on your own numbers.
